Why Is Garden Design Important?
Garden design is a way of creating ideas and giving you inspiration to getting that perfect garden. It is getting a plan together and may not even include any hard landscaping.
Most of our customers are looking for inspiration, and this can be done typically by discussing 2 or 3 ideas for the landscape garden. Our clients will always get a detailed plan and 3D perspective drawings to help them to visualise the finished garden design. Also, having the garden planned out accurately shows it to scale and this helps anticipate problems and allows accurate costings for the landscape contractors.
Some of the most beautiful gardens have been created without a plan at all, they have simply started without a Garden Designer with people working on their garden with a certain idea of how they would like it to look.
Our main aim is to give you a garden that is an enjoyable place to be, with vast colours, scents and most importantly… easy to maintain.
Why Are Linda And Ralph Different?
Linda And Ralph are both Gardeners and Garden designers in Portsmouth, Hampshire. We have won the Bronze Medal at BBC Gardeners World 2009 and the Bronze at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2010 small Gardens. Our ethos is very different from other Garden Designers in that we want to create traditional gardens. Our gardens are for life. The aim is to create a garden that has a visual impact to fit your lifestyle and gardening values. We feel that many modern gardens are destroyed without the beauty and natural creativity of the garden preserved.
After doing the shows at Gardeners World and Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, we have come to realise that people do not want Modern, designer Gardens. What they are asking us for are Wild looking, Easy Maintenance, Long Lasting gardens that demonstrate the importance of conservation and preservation of both buildings and gardens for future generations.
The Garden Design Process
We are Garden and Landscape Designers in Portsmouth, Hampshire. We create and renovate traditional gardens and aim to help you with every step to creating that dream garden.
- We offer a free consultation so that we can discuss your needs and wants. The aim of the initial meeting is for us to listen and discuss ideas together for your new garden design. We will look through different designs and planting styles that may appeal to you and give you inspiration for us to move to the next stage. This gives us the chance to assess the possibilities and limitation within your garden, considering the views, levels and access to the garden.
- A full plan is then drawn up with an accurate survey and 3D perspectives. This will help you to visualise the finished garden and ensure we have designed a garden that you are 100% happy with. Also having an accurate plan enables us to anticipate any problems with planting and building structures allowing accurate costings for the landscape contractors. A key part of the new garden is planting, a great deal of thought is put into developing a style of planting so that all of the plants complement the overall design and each other. Attention is also paid to the local environment, aspect and soil conditions.
- Once the plan is drawn up we will organise the garden to be created, this includes all of the costing, contractors, materials and the plants.
- Ongoing Progress Monitoring – once the Garden has been started we will monitor the progress of the work from start to finish to ensure everything is being made to plan and the professionals implement the design of your garden.
